Brass is the material that ages well. Where zinc alloy eventually pits and flakes, solid brass develops a patina and keeps its structural strength. For a bag that is meant to be used for years rather than a season, it is the more honest choice.
We machine and finish in-house, which means the plating thickness and the edge finish are controlled rather than bought in. If you have had hardware go dull after three months, it is usually a plating problem — and it is the first thing we check with a new customer's existing sample.
